In the religious art of the Tibetan people, "Tsa-tsa" is a small Buddhist sculpture art work that is easy to make, beautifully shaped and has a wide variety of types. It is still widely used and circulated in the market, pastoral areas and temples of the Tibet Autonomous Region. In Tibetan, "Tsa-tsa" means "clay sculpture made by demolding", which refers to small religious items such as Buddha statues, pagodas, and niches made of clay and molded with molds. Generally, it is mainly shaped by high relief, shallow relief, and round sculpture. The content is mostly Buddha and Bodhisattva statues, guardian statues, pagodas, and eminent monks. They are mainly enshrined in temples, sacred mountains, holy lakes, Buddhist caves, mountain passes and other places where people must pass through.

In the long history of the spread and development of Tibetan Buddhism, in order to spread the Dharma more widely and attract believers, "Tsa-tsa", like Thangka, shows its low production cost, easy to carry and can be worshipped anytime and anywhere, and is known as "a convenient practice method".
